Hi folks. I apologize for not leaving contact information in my first post. I am the writer who is considering writing a book about the Spooky and her crews. Thanks for inviting me to the reunion in September. I am going to do my best to come, though that is the first week of school and I'm a teacher so not sure if I can get the time off to do so. I would love to talk to anybody in the meantime to gauge whether I have enough interest and material for a book. I respond quickly to email and we can also talk by phone. My email is geriamor@msn.com Thanks again! Rob

My name is Rob Morris, and I’m a professional military aviation writer with a number of published books. I have been approved by my publisher, Fonthill Books, of the UK, to write a book about the AC-47 Spooky gunship. The book is to be 85,000 words with 80 photos. I am currently searching for pilots, copilots, and crew of any and all Spooky gunships to help tell the tale. I do not plan to proceed with the book unless I get some response from veterans, but I am sure I will. Please pass the word for me. I am very excited to do a book on this great airplane and the brave crews who flew and fought in it. Anybody who sees this who flew with the Spooky, I'd love to hear from you. My previous books have been quite successful and I feel this one will be as well. Click attached link for a list of my books. http://www.amazon.com/Rob-Morris/e/B001JRX6YK/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1 Sincerely, Rob Morris, Author

Lt. Col., then Major Noble L. Morton, Jr, Pilot May 1966-67, later with USAF Southern Command, I'll call Spooky South, 1967-70. Deceased 1989, father of 14 children. I would love to hear from anyone who knew him to exchange stories. Anyone who needs my phone number please call Mike Acosta One time he asked his copilot to get him a cup of coffee. When the copilot returned, my dad told him, "While you were out I had your seat air conditioned... a bullet had gone completely through the seat. The copilot was extremely grateful and said he owed my father his life and anything he ever needed, just let him know... The next time my dad asked him for a cup of coffee, you couldn't believe just how fast he flew out of his seat to get that cup of coffee."

I left the reunion at Vegas earlier than expected not knowing for sure the impact of east coast weather on flight schedules, therefore was uable to complete all the goodby's and thank you's among everyone. A task that I've never been very good at because I always feel better at getting gone without revealing my emotional side. Sound familiar? Kind of the essensance of the spooky. shadowy part of us that we all portray at some time or another. Regardless of the self inflicted baggage I carry, nothing is more important to me than to convey my genuine heartfelt thanks to everyone that made my reunion welcome, warm and meaningful. Those that spent the hours of hard work and preperation are the same ones that added the final ingredient to complete the occasion and that is Love and Friendship.Thank you very much.

My father, Ssgt John Campbell, was an Aerial Gunner on AC-47's Nov 65 to Nov 66, Da Nang and Bien Hoa, 4th ACS. He trained at Forbes AFB, 1st ACS, in Sep 65 for AC-47's, as he was a B-52 Gunner at the time. He received the DFC in Jul or Aug 66 in country. If there is anyone who served with him, I would love to hear from you. Unfortunately, he left us on Dec 30th, 1969.

It has been declassified for some time now that the 4thSOS , as it was shutting down in late '69, manned and supplied an AC-47 unit assigned to the Fighter/Recce wing at Udorn. This unit flew into mid-'70 until the mission (in Laos) could be assumed by AC-119K's. When I can get to it (and if I can find it), will forward a list of the last five active duty Spooky crews.

I was a U-10 pilot, 5th ACS, 14 ACW, Nha Trang 65-66. Nice site and a good tribute. I knew many of the 4th ACS crewmembers since we trained together at Forbes. I knew Willard Collins, Del Peterson (Spooky 70, KIA) and I still correspond with Jerry Meek. I knew many others who did not come home - Joe Christiano, Marshall Tapp, etc.
